TULSA, Okla. – The NM State women’s golf program closed out play at the loaded Dale McNamara Invitational hosted by Tulsa at the Golf Course of Oklahoma Tuesday.
Led by sophomore Alison Gastelum, the Aggies finished seventh overall, ahead of nationally-ranked Tulsa, SMU, UTSA, Texas State and Kansas State. NM State finished at +35 overall.
After firing rounds of 75 and 74 to open the tournament, Gastelum rebounded with a final round 71. The Mexico native finished tied for 16th overall.
Other strong performances included Amelia McKee and Alex Quihuis finishing tied for 26th at +8 overall.
Led by freshman Sydney Bryan, UNLV finished at -3 overall to win the team title. Bryan shared the individual title with Hailey Jones of Oklahoma State who played as an individual at -4 overall.
The Rebels finished all shots clear of Nebraska, who used a final round team score of 284 (-4) to finish in solo second at +8.
Fresno State (+18), Sam Houston (+19) and BYU (+22) rounded out the top five finishers. New Mexico finished at +33 overall to place sixth, followed by NM State (+35), SMU (+36), UTSA (+38), Tulsa (+39), Texas State (+42), Kansas State (+63) and Lamar (+75).
