Davis Posts Top-10 Finish as Tennessee Concludes Play at The Ally


WEST POINT, Miss. – Freshman Bailey Davis of the Tennessee women’s golf team recorded the first top-10 finish of her young collegiate career Wednesday as the Lady Vols concluded play in Mississippi at The Ally.
 
Tennessee made a combined 19 birdies in round three as they wrapped up the 54-hole event in 11th place (+24, 888).
 
A native of White Plains, Maryland, Davis finished the tournament tied for sixth (-7) and used six birdies to secure a third round score of -5 (67). Her score of 67 marks the second time she has posted a round in the 60s this season and was tied for the second-lowest score of the third round in the field of 72. Davis’ three-day score was 7-under, 209.
 
Vanessa Gilly, a sophomore, was 4-over, 76, in the third round to finish in a tie for 44th place (+8, 224).
 
Senior Hadley Walts birdied on five of the round’s final nine holes to finish round three at +1 (73). Her overall score of +18 (234) landed her in 66th place. Nicole Whiston, a junior, shot 2-over, 74, Wednesday to finish tied for 62nd at +15, 231.
 
Sophomore Kayla Holden rounded out Tennessee’s scoring lineup Wednesday, shooting +3 (75) to finish the event tied for 56th at 12-over (228) overall.
