Golf outing helps Clipper girls team | News, Sports, Jobs

COLUMBIANA–Valley Golf Club will be hosting the Lady Clipper Golf Scramble to raise funds the high school girls golf team.
The nine-hole scramble will be held at 1 p.m. June 27 at 41784 Cherry Fork Road. Cost is $30 a person or $120 for a four-person team.
The cost includes a take-and go-meal, green fees, carts and prizes.
Coach Chad Moreschi said that it’s a great opportunity for families to come out and play together.
“It’s open to all –that’s the nice thing about it,” he said.
He said golf benefits the girls by building skills in a game team members can play with family members past graduation and throughout generations.
“It’s something they can do for the rest of their life which is nice to me,” he said.
There, too, are sometimes financial awards.
“I’ve had at least a handful of girls that went on to earn scholarships or play in college, who wouldn’t have had that opportunity otherwise which is a nice plus,” Moreschi pointed out.
Funds raised will pay for uniforms, tournament fees, green fees, practice rounds, tees and balls.
The fundraiser takes place once a year and Moreschi enjoys the experience.
