BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s golf team will close out its fall season in South Carolina as the Mountain Hawks will compete in Charleston Southern’s Daniel Island Intercollegiate, with play set for Monday and Tuesday at the Daniel Island Club.
The tournament will feature 54 holes with 36 on Sunday and 18 on Monday with play both days to begin with a shotgun start.
The Daniel Island Club plays to a par 72 at 7,446 yards. Participating teams include Campbell, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Eastern Kentucky, Florida State, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Jacksonville State, Lehigh, Presbyterian, Purdue Fort Wayne, Seton Hall, South Carolina, USC Aiken, USC Upstate, VCU, Virginia, Western Carolina and Winthrop.
This will be the fifth and final fall tournament for the Mountain Hawks, who finished fifth at their Lehigh Invitational last weekend. Junior Sam Barton led the way, tying for third place at even par 144 (72-72). Barton was named Patriot League Men’s Golfer of the Week for his efforts. Juniors David Hurly and Daniel Song also posted top 20 individual finishes among Lehigh’s scoring team. Freshman Aidan Oehrle competed as an individual and had a strong weekend, tying for 10th place at 149 (74-75).
The Mountain Hawks’ lineup for the Daniel Island Intercollegiate will feature Barton, Hurly, Song, sophomore Edmund Broderick and freshman Jahan Bains.
Lehigh was slated to play Lafayette in the annual President’s Cup matches at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in New Jersey last Tuesday, but the event was rained out.
