FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Ole Miss men’s golf team wrapped up play at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Wednesday, finishing third as a team with a three-day score of 861 (-3). The Rebels entered the day in third amongst a tough field and remained in that spot with a final round 294 (+6).Ole Miss led the field in par-4 scoring (+9) over the course of the tournament, while also leading the field in total pars made (175). The Rebels were one of only three teams that made two eagles at the Blessings, with Kye Meeks and Jackson Suber making one apiece.Looking to get his first tournament win of the season and third of his career, Suber entered Wednesday’s final round tied for third at six-under on the week. Suber came out to a strong start, going 3-under over his opening 10 holes of play, including an eagle on No. 10 that momentarily gave him the lead.Despite his best efforts, Suber eventually settled for a round of 72 (E), tying for sixth individually. The senior Rebel earned his 12th top 10 finish of his career. Suber concluded the tournament with the second-best par-4 scoring (-4), behind only eventual tournament medalist Luke Long of Arkansas.Brett Schell looked to carry a strong performance on the week into Wednesday, and the St. Augustine, Florida, native did just that with a 73 (+1) on the day to finish 2-under par on the week. His final round featured a team-high four birdies. Ending the 54-hole tournament in red figures, Schell placed in a tie for 12th individually, the best finishing position of his collegiate career.Senior Sarut Vongchaisit battled for a 1-over par round to close out his tournament in Fayetteville, which included numerous putts from distance that helped maintain his team’s position on the leaderboard. Vongchaisit was able to shoot a 36 (E) on his front nine, while logging a pair of bogeys before a birdie on No. 18 to cap off his week.Evan Brown had a round that matched that of yesterday at Blessings, carding a 76 (+4) over his 18 holes of play. A pair of birdies on Brown’s back nine were not enough for the graduate transfer from Loyola, as three double bogeys in his final round saw him finish tied for 27th with his teammate Vongchaisit in his first tournament as a Rebel.Rounding out play for the Rebels was redshirt-freshman Kye Meeks, who in his debut for Ole Miss, finished at 223 (+7) over three days. Meeks’ highlight of the tournament came Tuesday, when the Walnut, Mississippi, native became one of just nine players in the field to make an eagle throughout the week.As the host, Arkansas was able to come away with both the team and individual titles at the Blessings. The Razorbacks finished with a team score of 846 (-18) on the week, and Luke Long’s 205 (-11) led the field individually. The Rebels now have a short turnaround before their next tournament, as the team is set to travel to Birmingham, Alabama this Sunday to take part in the SEC Match Play Championship (Oct. 10-12) at Shoal Creek Club.Get all the latest information on the team by following @OleMissMGolf on Twitter and OleMissMGolf on Instagram and Facebook.THE REBELS
