HAMILTON, N.Y. – Playing in its first tournament of the fall season, the Lehigh men’s golf team shot a pair of 299 rounds Saturday at the Alex Lagowicz Memorial Invitational at the Seven Oaks Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks’ total of 598 has them ninth out of 15 teams heading into Sunday’s final round.
Junior Daniel Song was the top performer for the Mountain Hawks Saturday, with rounds of 74 and 72 to sit in a tie for 17th place at 146. Song made three birdies in his morning 74 then made five in the afternoon, including four straight on holes three through six.
Sophomore Edmund Broderick matched Song with a morning 74 that featured three birdies. He then shot 76 in the afternoon and is tied for 35th place at 150.
Junior David Hurly and freshman Jahan Bains are both tied for 40th place at 152. Hurly shot 74 and then 78 carding one birdie in each round. Bains went the other way opening with a 78 and closing with a 78. He made two birdies in each of his first two collegiate rounds.
Lehigh’s other freshman, Aidan Oehrle, is tied for 55th place at 155 (78-77). Oehrle made four birdies on Saturday, two in each round.
Junior Sam Barton is tied for 67th place at 156 with rounds of 77 and 79.
Yale leads the team race at four under par 582 (287-285). The Bulldogs hold a seven stroke lead over host Colgate.
Colgate’s Dugan McCabe and Yale’s Teddy Zinsner are tied for the individual lead at three under par 141.
The Alex Lagowicz Memorial Invitational concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes of play. A shotgun start is set for 9 a.m.
