NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Baylor women’s golf team returns to Belmar Golf Club this weekend, the site of its 31-stroke victory last fall at The Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Oklahoma.
Britta Snyder, Gurleen Kaur, Rosie Belsham and Hannah Karg were all members of the winning team in 2020 and they will make the return trip in 2021.
“We have good feelings there from last year, with four of the four the five that played in that event going back,” head coach Jay Goble said. “It’s always a really cool event that is tied in with Toby Keith and his foundation, so always nice to be a part of this event.”
Freshman Antonia Matte, who completes the Baylor lineup, played very well in her collegiate debut. She shot three rounds under-par at The Cougar Classic, and Goble is excited to see what she can do on the 6,109-yard, par-70 layout at Belmar.
“I’m excited to take the same lineup we had at Yemans Hall,” Goble said. “I believe as of right now, that’s our best lineup. Antonia played so great in her first event, so I’m excited to see her on this golf course.
Senior Gurleen Kaur tied for the individual title in 2020 thanks to three rounds in the 60’s on her way to a 5-under par 205.
The event will begin with the first two rounds on Sunday beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Baylor will begin on Hole No. 4, with Snyder and Matte leading things off. Rosie Belsham will begin her round on No. 5, while the lineup is rounded out by Kaur on No. 6 and Karg on No. 7.You can follow along with live scoring updates on Golfstat.com throughout the tournament. Monday’s final two holes will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southwest on Wednesday at 3 p.m. CT. That footage will be live streamed on Monday afternoon at SoonerSports.com.
