The Youngstown State women’s golf team will continue its spring season on Saturday with a dual match against St. Francis (Pa.) at Grand View Golf Club in Braddock, Pa.
The Penguins are coming off their second victory of the season at the Nevel Meade Collegiate on Tuesday. YSU fired a three-round team total of 891 to win the event by 12 strokes. The team’s 891 ranks as the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history. The Penguins’ second-round 291 ranks tied for the sixth-lowest 18-hole team score in school history.
Three Penguins placed in the top 10 on Tuesday as Puthita Khuanrudee tied for second, Katlyn Shutt placed fourth and Danae Rugola tied for fifth. Khuanrudee’s three-round score of 218 (71-76-71) ranks tied for the third-lowest 54-hole mark in program history. Shutt’s three-round 219 (73-72-74) ranks as the fifth-lowest 54-hole score in school history.
Saturday’s event will be an 18-hole stroke play match. The course will play approximately 5,862 yards and par is 70. Tee times for the match are set to begin at 10 a.m. ET. There will be no live scoring; results will be posted at the conclusion of play.
Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced that YSU’s lineup will include Khuanrudee, Rugola, Christina Lewis, Madie Smithco and Tori Utrup. In addition, Victoria Gräns and Jenna Vivo will be competing as individuals.
Khuanrudee and Lewis have competed in each of YSU’s first four events this season. Rugola, Smitcho and Vivo have each participated in three events this season while Gräns and Utrup have each competed in one tournament.
Youngstown State will be playing its second dual match of the season. The Penguins defeated Charleston Southern 309-311 in their season opener at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C., on Feb. 20.
