Boys golf team picks up four wins | News, Sports, Jobs

It was another windy day for golf on Tuesday, May 4, and the Blue Earth Area boys team blew by Martin County West 164-204. The meet was played on the Minn-Iowa Golf Course north of Elmore.
The Bucs were led by Braden Gudahl, who shot a 2-over par score of 38, in their 40-stroke victory.
Gudahl had seven pars during the nine-hole round and finished two strokes ahead of teammate Ashton Lloyd and Hunter Schmidt of the Mavericks.
Lloyds’s round included one birdie and four pars.
BEA’s Manning Lane birdied hole No. 8 and had one par to finish with a 42 and fourth place overall.
Gavin Storbeck and Max Ehrich each carded 44s to tie for fifth place. Storbeck had a birdie and one par while Ehrich recorded four pars on the day.
Nate Murphy shot a round of 45 to finish in seventh place. Murphy had one birdie and one par.
BEA played host to Fairmont, Albert Lea and United South Central on Saturday, May 8, at Minn- Iowa Golf Course. Results of that competition will be in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.
BSC Tournament
New Ulm
New Ulm was the site of a Big South Conference golf meet on Monday, May 3.
Blue Earth Area finished in first place out of six squads with a team score of 317. St. Peter was second with 325, Jackson County Central took third with 347, Fairmont was fourth with 353, New Ulm placed fifth with 373 and Waseca was sixth with 392.
BEA had four golfers place in the top six at the meet.
Braden Gudahl tied for medalist honors with a score of 75. He had five birdies and five pars during his 18-hole round.
Manning Lane was fourth overall with a 79. He recorded two birdies and eight pars.
Ashton Lloyd shot an 81 which included two birdies and six pars.
Max Ehrich’s round of 82 completed the team scoring. Ehrich had one par, seven birdies and an eagle.
Gavin Storbeck and Nate Murphy finished tied for 21st. Both golfers shot a round of 95.
Cardinal Invitational
Blue Earth Area’s boys golf team picked up another win on Saturday, May 1, when they finished ahead of nine other teams at the 2021 Cardinal Boys Golf Invite. The 18-hole tournament was held at Interlaken Golf Course in Fairmont.
BEA’s low score of 312 was 14 strokes better than the second place team score of 326 by Minnewaska Area. St. Peter was third with 331 and Fairmont was fourth with 337.
Braden Gudahl of the Bucs took medalist honors with a score of 74. The left-handed hitting Gudahl had four birdies to take first place by three strokes. His birdies came on the par-4 eighth, 12th and 14th holes and the par-5 17th.
BEA’s Manning Lane tied for second place with a 77. Lane birdied the par-5 second hole and the par 4 14th.
The third BEA golfer to contribute to the team score was Ashton Lloyd. Lloyd had a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole on his way to a round of 79, which put him in fifth place.
Max Ehrich’s round of 82 was the final score to count towards BEA’s team total. Ehrich ended up in a tie for seventh place.
Gavin Storbeck shot an 84 which put him in a tie for 12th place and Nathan Murphy tied for 30th with a round of 91.
Windom Triangular
The Bucs took on the host team from Windom Area and Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Friday, April 30 in a triangular meet and came home with a 30-stroke victory.
BEA’s score of 143 was 30 points better than Windom Area’s 173. Mountain Lake/Comfrey was third with 235.
Braden Gudahl earned medalist honors with a score of 33 on the par-36 course. He had six pars and birdied three holes to give him his three-under total.
Manning Lane shot a 1-under par round of 35. Lane had four birdies as part of his second-place total.
Ashton Lloyd took third place with an even-par round of 36 and Nathan Murphy provided the final score for the team with a 3-over score of 39.
Gavin Storbeck shot a 40 to finish in fifth place and Max Ehrich finished ninth with a score of 45.
