Lehigh To Open Fall Season This Weekend At Bucknell Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s golf team kicks off its fall season this weekend as the Mountain Hawks head to Lewisburg for Bucknell’s Fall Invitational. The 54-hole tournament will feature 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday with 9 a.m. shotgun starts on both days.
 
The Bucknell Invitational will be the first of four tournaments for the Mountain Hawks this fall.
 
Lehigh is coming off a spring campaign in which it went 3-1 in dual competition and also competed in three tournaments. The Mountain Hawks finished fifth at the Patriot League Championship at Saucon Valley Country Club.
 
The Mountain Hawks lost just one player to graduation, Angela Ding and enter the fall with a nine-player roster that features three juniors, three sophomores and three first-year players.
 
Sophomore Sophie Holland led Lehigh in four of its seven spring events and her 77.75 scoring average was the third-lowest single season mark in program history.
 
Lehigh’s three juniors: Hannah Foster, Marina Mendez and Iris Shin all competed at the league championship in the spring.
 
In the sophomore class, Holland is joined by Meghna Grover and Sophia Taverna, both of who did not participate in the spring season.
 
Fifth-year head coach Mary Kate Lynch also welcomes three first-year newcomers: Sophie Chang from Basking Ridge, N.J., Madison Pineda from San Carlos, Calif., and Mia Scarpati from Norwalk, Conn.
 
Lehigh’s scoring team for the Bucknell Invitational will feature Holland, Pineda, Grover, Taverna and Foster. Scarpati and Mendez will compete as individuals.
 
The Bucknell Invitational will be contested on the 5,900-yard, par 70 Bucknell Golf Club. The 11-team field includes Bucknell, Holy Cross, Howard, La Salle, Lehigh, LIU, Mount St. Mary’s, Navy, Niagara, Saint Francis and Wagner.

Following the Bucknell Invitational, Lehigh will play in the Navy Fall Invitational Oct. 2-3 and the Quinnipiac Classic Oct. 10-11 before closing out the fall by hosting the Lehigh Invitational on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club Oct. 25-26.
