On Tuesday, March 16, Missouri Western mens' golf team went down to Edmond, Oklahoma, to partake in the Central Oklahoma Bronco Invitational at Oak Tree Country Club. The Griffons finished 11th out of 20 teams in the tournament. Oklahoma Christian won the team title with a score of 871 as the Griffon’s finished with a 904. In the first round of the invitational, Patrick McCarthy led the way for the Griffons by shooting a 72 on the first day followed by a 74 on the second. Jet Simmons shot a 77 in round one and 74 in the second. Lucas Horseman finished with a 75 in round one and shot an 80 in round two. The team finished the first round with an overall score of 306 in the first, and 304 in the second leaving them with an overall score of 610 for the first two rounds.Missouri Western played their best round as a team in the third and final round as they shot a 294 overall. McCarthy shot a 74 on the final day as he would finish the invitational tied for 13th. Simmons shot a 71 where he would tie for 23rd, and Horseman shot a 75 to finish his third round and that placed him within the top 50 of the tournament. Missouri Western Mens' Golf will travel to Topeka as they will participate in the Washburn Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 22 and 23. The Womens' Golf Team will travel to Hot Springs, Arkansas where they will play in the Henderson State Classic on Monday and Tuesday, Mar. 22 and 23. Source link
