Mountain Hawks Eighth After Day One of Navy Fall Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh women’s golf team opened the Navy Fall Invitational with a round of 321 Saturday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. Freshman Madison Pineda led the way with a three over par 75 as Lehigh sits in eighth place out of 13 teams entering Sunday’s final round.
 
Pineda made one birdie in her opening round Saturday and sits in eighth place overall. Behind Pineda, sophomore Meghna Grover shot 81 and is tied for 29th. Freshman Mia Scarpati carded a team-best four birdies and shot an impressive 34 on the front nine to shoot 82. Scarpati is tied for 35th place.
 
Sophomore Sophie Holland and junior Hannah Foster both shot 83 and are tied for 43rd place.
 
Lehigh also had two players compete as individuals. Sophomore Sophia Taverna had a strong opening day, carding three birdies and shooting 77. She is tied for 14th place. Junior Marina Mendez shot 89 and is in 69th place.
 
Richmond shot 304 and leads the team race by one stroke over Sacred Heart.
 
Nattavadee Khunsri of Delaware State shot five under par 67 and leads three players by six shots entering Sunday’s final round.
 
The Navy Fall Invitational concludes Sunday morning with the final 18 holes of play. Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m.
