TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 12 Texas Men’s Golf team fired a 17-under 559 across 36 holes at the National Invitational Tournament on Saturday. It leaves Texas in sixth place as a team, 12 shots back of leaders Oklahoma State, entering Sunday’s final round.
Pierceson Coody was the low Longhorn on opening day, shooting a 7-under 137 in his two rounds. He opened with a 4-under 68 and followed it up with a 3-under 69 to place himself in a tie for eighth after 36 holes. Behind Coody, Cole Hammer and Travis Vick are tied for 20th as individuals at 4-under par. Hammer shot an even-par 72 in his first trip around the Omni Tucson National Golf Club, followed by a 4-under 68. Meanwhile, Vick shot back-to-back 2-under 70’s.
Mason Nome is tied for 29th at 2-under par, while freshman Will Thomson sits tied for 57th at 1-over after Saturday’s action.
The final round of the N.I.T. will be held on Sunday in Tucson, with live results available throughout the day on Golfstat.com.
