Runbom finished seventh.10 Streaks grab WB6 honorsThe Western Big 6 Conference recently announced the All-WB6 teams for girls cross country, girls swimming and boys and girls golf, and several Galesburg High School student-athletes received honors.The Silver Streaks’ Jason Runbom was named the Most Valuable Player in the WB6 and to the all-league first team for his efforts on the links for the GHS boys golf team. Streaks senior Ben Templeton grabbed second team honors.Galesburg junior Bri Admire made the first team in girls cross country. Both Admire and Runboom qualified for state in their respective fall sports.Streaks freshman Cora Johnson was named to the All-WB6 first team in girls golf. Galesburg junior Gracey Miyler was named to the second team.Five Streaks — Dulce Felix-Lopez, Tori Robinson, Allie Warren, Kylie Tapper, and Olivia Owen — grabbed second team All-WB6 honors in girls swimming.COLLEGE FOOTBALLMWC announces all-league squadsGRINNELL, Iowa — The Monmouth College football team had 11 players honored with All-Conference selections on Tuesday, highlighted by defensive end Korbyn Personett as the league’s Defensive Line MVP.Personett, a senior, broke the Monmouth single-season sacks record on Saturday with two, as he finished the year with 16. He leads all NCAA Division III players in sacks (16), solo sacks (15), tackles for loss (25) and solo tackles for loss (21). He amassed 52 tackles on the season with four pass break ups, six quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles.The Fighting Scots put eight players on the first team, two on offense, five on defense and one on special teams. They are offensive lineman Derek Brown, linebacker Drake Dietrich, punter Addison Fletcher, defensive back Devin Graham, linebacker Evan Otto, Personett, defensive back Kaleb Plattenberger and wideout Jake Uryasz.The second team selections for Monmouth were running back Henderson Francois, wide receiver Nathan Graham and offensive lineman Matthew Shimko.Knox also had a trio grab All-MWC second team honors. They are sophomore left guard Creed Justice, senior linebacker Ean Rau, and junior Davis Brumbaugh did so as a special teams player.
