The Southern Texas PGA won three of the last four singles matches against the Northern Texas PGA to win the 41st Joe Black Cup at Boot Ranch Golf Club in Fredericksburg on Tuesday.Trailing 7-5 heading into the singles matches of the Ryder Cup-style event, the STPGA went 71/2-41/2 in singles to win the matches 121/2-111/2. The STPGA took the lead in the series 20-19-2.As part of its prize, the STPGA will award the first Texas Golf Hall of Fame Joe Black Scholarship in 2022. The award, which will be funded by the NTPGA and the STPGA, was announced Sunday by Texas Golf Hall of Fame executive director Katie Manor.Royal Oaks event raises record $107KThe 38th edition of the Royal Oaks’ Great 108 broke its record by raising $107,000 for the Northern Texas PGA Foundation. The fundraising event at Royal Oaks Country Club included 40 junior golfers who each received a 9-hole playing lesson from either Royal Oaks PGA Professional Emeritus Randy Smith or another of the PGA professionals on the Royal Oaks staff. Since the beginning of the Texas Shootout in 2003, the North Team has won the Texas Shootout 10 times. … Curtis Harris of Eastland and Stephen Knight of Fredericksburg led wire-to-wire to win the Texas Stableford Handicap at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville. … The team of South Texas juniors won the Jackie Burke Cup, defeating North Texas 37-11 at Willow Brook Country Club in Tyler.
