Vols in Fifth Through One Round at Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate


ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Propelled by under-par efforts from three golfers, Tennessee is in fifth place in a talented field through one round at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.
 
The Vols shot 7-under as a team on Friday, with Tyler Johnson (-3), Jake Hall (-3) and Spencer Cross (-2) each shooting under par for the day.
 
Johnson and Hall are tied for 10th place entering round two. At 3-under, Friday marked Hall’s lowest round of the fall and tied for Johnson’s lowest this season.
 
Johnson has now shot par or better in each of his four rounds as a member of Tennessee’s lineup this fall. Between team competition and a pair of individual tournaments, Hall now has eight rounds of par or better this fall. The Knoxville native shot a team-leading five birdies on Friday.
 
Like Johnson, Cross also shot his fourth straight round of par or better, carding a 2-under. Tennessee’s highest finisher at the season-opening Blessings Collegiate Invitational, Cross enters Saturday tied for 14th place.
 
The Vols’ final counting round of the day came from Bryce Lewis, who shot 1-over and is in 36th place through one round. Hunter Wolcott shot 4-over in round one and is tied for 63rd place.
